Fresh Blanket of Snow

Fresh Blanket of Snow

By Valerie J Laidlaw

My dreams throughout the night,

Had been filled

With brightly-blooming habiscus flowers,

And,

A colorful, floral summer day.

I woke up to a fresh blanket of snow.

The stillness of a gentle morning,

With large flakes sifting down,

Falling like dandruff,

On my Aussie’s black, thick fur.

I see him as he watches the sky,

Tilting his head upward.

Bellowing out,

Howling,

A lonesome, sad song.

I feel comfort, and coziness

In this snowy, calm scene,

Then,

I recall my dream,

And, look forward to those warmer days.
